Ecological and Cultural immersion 8 Day and 4 Day Immersions Available Below

Terra Brasilis Retreats will repeat its successful Rainforest Coastal nature immersion in a spectacular oceanfront location, inserted in the exuberant forest, overlooking the sea, mountains, and steps away from the sand. This ecological immersion’s theme will be “Healing in the Brazilian waters”.

It will take place in a small coastal village of Picinguaba (in Tupi-Guarani the indigenous language in Brazil, it means “fish shelter”) located in a tranquil bay at the heart of the tropical forest, in the only part of the “Sea Sierra” State Park that reaches the beach.

It is a magical and rare ecological sanctuary in the “Green Belt” a costal rainforest that extends from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo state, where five ecosystems are preserved; co-exist peacefully with the “caiçara” community (coastal habitants of a fishing village) tucked in lush nature, and unknown even to the Brazilian tourist. This is a well-kept secret that Terra Brasilis will share with few of you. It is the perfect place to discover real Brazil, and to be immersed in its bountiful nature and local culture. We will limit the number of guests per event to ensure exclusive service and extraordinary experiences.

Picinguaba is a small village located inside Ubatuba. It is also an internationally recognized UNESCO heritage site. Amongst the many natural experiences that are to be had here, we can arrange cultural guided tours: Vila de Picinguaba, Paraty and Trilha de Ouro (Gold Trail). The “Paraty, Colonial Heritage” tour takes us to a city rich in culture, outfitted in XVII and XVIII century buildings, arts and crafts shops, as well as restaurants featuring local gastronomy.

Either stay very active and adventurous or on the opposite, enjoy the calm and relaxed atmosphere of the charming colonial style “inn” or “pousada” and its pool, view, sauna, or enjoy the beach, village and its surroundings. Or both! We offer a wide-range of activities a la carte. Indeed, some of these experiences are to be enjoyed in total freedom by our guests, whereas others are guided by locals and our bilingual team. Surfboards, Boats, kayaks and stand-up paddles take us to picture perfect adventure in nearby secret beaches; walks through the forest teach us about the calls of birds that echo in the green and reveal landscapes and waterfalls. Native dwellers invite us to fish scallops and taste the entire potency of their flavor.

This tour is especially nice early in the morning or dur- ing sunset time. Cerco de Picinguaba: Twice a day a group of experienced fishermen from the Picinguaba village repeat the tradition of checking the encirclement (Cerco de Picinguaba). It’s a fixed net located 300 meters away from the beach. Several different types of fish are caught in the net and sometimes it is possible to see turtles and sting- rays.

Forest Hikes Hikes through the forest to Bird Watching, waterfalls, secret beaches Entering the forest and following trails through essentially untouched greenery, breathing in fresh air, hearing the echoes bouncing off the trees. We offer various itineraries that take guests to secret beaches, only accessible on foot, to spectacular waterfalls or even on a birdwatching tour led by a local and passionate guide.

They are the traditional means of reaching the ocean for artisanal fishing. Made of wood and colorfully painted, the canoes color the village’s ocean. Duration: Boat leaves at 10am and comes back at 5pm

Kayak in Picinguaba Bay We have the pleasure to offer you two possibili ties for this tour: Praia da Fazenda: You cross the Picinguaba bay all the way to a secluded beach with the possibility of going up the Picinguaba River.

This tour will take you to the forest with a professional who is very passionate and will make you discover all the different types of birds who live here. Duration: Around 4 hours — Book in advance

Native Fishing Experience the Picinguaba way of life. Fish with a local fisherman, from one of the colorful boats docked out on the bay. This activity is great fun for both children and adults — a relaxing, educational experience that connect us with the knowledge of people who embrace fishing as a traditional practice. Upon our return, we can cook up what you’ve fished for dinner, a special experience in and of itself.

Traditional canoeing in the mangrove The traditional caiçara canoe is a symbol of the relationship between the people of Picinguaba and the sea. They are the traditional means of reaching the ocean for artisanal fishing. Made of wood and colorfully painted, the canoes color the village’s ocean. To go on a caiçara canoe trip through the mangrove means encountering a place that is the natural filter between sweet and salt water, discovering its unique vegetation, fauna and richness — an enchanting experience.

Past Amazon Yoga Immersions

AMAZON YOGA IMMERSION - 25 FEBRUARY 2017

In partnership with Namaskara Yoga Studio, we offer the Amazon Yoga Retreat. Experience the majestic beauty of the Amazon Rainforest in this unique yoga immersion set in a house without walls. Far more than a yoga retreat, this is an opportunity to immerse yourself in your own perfect way of being while surrounded by the largest, most biodiverse rainforest on the planet. In this retreat you have the option to choose between studying the traditions of either Ashtanga or Iyengar.

During this 5 or 10-day program you’ll enjoy daily yoga and meditation sessions taught by Namaskara Yoga Studio owners and senior yoga instructors, eat local fruits and healthy vegetarian meals prepared onsite, soak in breathtaking views of lush rainforest balconies and close by white sand river beaches, and embark on a fulfilling journey of self-discovery in a paradise on Earth.

Inspired by the native communities who live abundantly from the land and without commodities, we’ve designed this immersion as opportunity to practice a simple and gratifying way of life- to truly unplug from the toxic modern grid, and rest well in genuine integration with nature.

Please read the following program options carefully!! In our efforts to make this experience more inclusive, there are various options for length of stay and two styles of yoga practice available: Ashtanga or Iyengar. We’d love to have you join us on this adventure.
