IYENGAR yoga generally refers to a gentler style of practice. The practice, created by B.K.S. Iyengar focuses on alignment and teaches that there is a “right” way to do each posture. Practitioners are guided by the teacher to focus on the nuances of each asana until proper alignment is achieved. Iyengar introduced the use of props such as blankets, blocks, straps, and bolsters to help practitioners work through their challenges. Practitioners choosing to practice Iyengar style are required to bring 2 blocks, 2 belts, and 3 blankets. If you do not wish to bring your props, used “Prop” kits will also be available to rent, if booked 30 days in advance when paying in full for the retreat.
